COLLEGE STUDENTS

TIDES CAMPUS MINISTRY

College is a time for exploration, growth, and change. For some, it can be difficult to reconcile the person you are, the person you are becoming, and the person you have been – especially when you begin to look more closely at your own relationship with faith, religion, theology, and spirituality. We know that faith never stands still but continues to be shaped over the course of a lifetime. That’s why First Christian has partnered with several other progressive downtown churches to provide a space for college students who want to explore their faith while retaining a progressive, inclusive, and welcoming identity.

TIDES Campus Ministry is a partnership between First Christian, Broadway Christian Church, St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, First Baptist Church, Missouri United Methodist Church, Calvary Episcopal Church, and First Presbyterian Church (and maybe more as we continue to grow). Our partnerships help us to represent diverse beliefs, and to have a ton of fun together! We welcome students of all stripes to all our events, whether you already have a local congregation, or aren’t even interested in attending traditional church at all. When we say all are welcome, we mean all. Learn more @tides_como on Instagram.

MiSSION TRIPS

Students who are connected to First Christian are encouraged to join us for our mission trip opportunities, serving and caring for our neighbors in need across the city, region, and country. Last year, our group met over Winter Break to care for local needs in CoMo. For 2024, we’re planning to head to Evansville, IN, as part of a more ‘intergenerational’ trip. College students will have time set aside for their own group, including higher level study/reflection and work projects, but will also work alongside high school and upper middle school students. This is a chance to be a mentor figure, get some great service hours, and have a TON of fun! We travel from July 21-27, 2024 (and will spend one day at Holiday World & Splashin’ Surfari, which might be America’s best amusement/water park combo!)
