The Church in Society and World Outreach Departments actively engage the congregation in ways of outreach. Through serving locally in community aid programs and supporting needs that are outside of Columbia these departments connect the church membership to places where care and nurture are most needed.

First Christian serves the dinner meal at the Columbia soup kitchen Loaves and Fishes six Mondays of the year.
Coordinated through the efforts of the Christian Women’s Fellowship, the second Friday of the month First Christian Church is the staff at The Wardrobe, Columbia’s clothing ministry to those in need.
A very important part of the youth experience at First Christian Church is service to others. Chi Rho, CYF, College DOC, and “all church” groups embark on their respective annual mission trips to continue the building of Christ’s community with each other and the world at large.
Breakfast for the Brethren
First Christian serves breakfast to those in need on Saturdays in May and October as part of a downtown church feeding program.
Room at the Inn
Assistance of volunteers and resources are given to the winter homeless shelter in Columbia called Room at the Inn.
Sunday mornings in the cold months of winter, First Christian serves as a “warming station” from early morning until 9 a.m. for those who have stayed the night at Room at the Inn.
Adopting Families at Christmas
Each November, the Church in Society Department coordinates church members in gift giving to those in need through the efforts of The Voluntary Action Center.
Wine to Water
Wine to Water is a unique fundraiser bringing church friends together over wine, food, and the opportunity to raise money for water resource projects around the world funded through Week of Compassion.
